Item Name: Magician’s Hat of Holding
Type: Wondrous item, rare
Requires attunement: No
Description: This elegant top hat, made from fine velvet and adorned with a silken band, is imbued with the magic of holding. The hat functions similarly to a Bag of Holding, but with a few extra magical features designed to delight and entertain.
The Magician’s Hat of Holding can hold up to 500 pounds, not exceeding a volume of 64 cubic feet. The object must fit inside the width of the brim of the hat. The hat weighs 3 pounds, regardless of the items stored within. To store an item in the hat, the user must place it on the brim and speak the command word. The item will then vanish, as if pulled into the hat by an unseen force. To retrieve an item, the user must reach into the hat while speaking the item’s name, and it will magically appear in their hand.
As an action, the user can will the hat to produce a small, harmless creature (such as a rabbit, dove, or frog), as if from a hidden compartment within the hat. The creature remains for 1 minute before vanishing in a puff of smoke.
Additionally, the hat has 3 charges. As an action, the user can expend 1 charge to cast the Prestidigitation cantrip without any components. The hat regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn.
Restrictions: If the hat is overloaded, pierced, or torn, it ruptures and is destroyed. All contents within are scattered across the Astral Plane, and the hat becomes a non-magical top hat. If the hat is turned inside out, all its contents spill forth, unharmed, but the hat must be put back in its proper form to function again. Breathing creatures inside the hat can survive for up to 10 minutes, after which they begin to suffocate.
